Grant of sewing machines

We Are Sew Happy!

We are so pleased to announce that the Sewing Machine Project has granted our request for three sewing machines for Ruth House! The machines will be included in the next cargo ship moving from the USA to Uganda this Spring.

“We are very grateful to the founder and director of the Sewing Machine Project, Margaret Jankowski, and her board for this grant,” said Mike Froncek, Senior Advocate for New Beginnings USA Partners.

“The women of Ruth House will now have the tools they need to begin their vocational training journey. Having a marketable skill means a new beginning for our Ruth House residents and their children. When the machines arrive and training begins, each of our residents will begin the process of becoming an income-producing person, which means in turn, that they will be able to achieve independence,” Froncek said.

Isoba Henry, founder and president of New Beginnings said, “We are so excited to receive these sewing machines and are thankful to the Sewing Machine Project for this important grant. New Beginnings International Ministries is committed to providing Ugandan women and girls with education and training that leads to empowerment. Most importantly, being a skilled worker will help them rise above poverty and build a future for their families,” he said.
